After 20 years of tax and accounting experience, Virginia decided to fulfill a long-time dream and founded GPL Tax & Accounting.
Virginia's passion is tax law, so she can give her clients only the most accurate, current advice regarding their tax issues. As a result, she has long-time, loyal relationships with many of her clients.
Virginia specializes in complex tax issues, such as multi-state complex tax returns, estates, trusts, and non-profit organizations. She has extensive experience preparing tax returns for large corporations.
With experience representing business and individuals with the IRS and state agencies, Virginia serves as the head of GPL's audit department. She specializes in representing clients in state and federal tax audits and collections issues, including sales and employment tax issues.
Virginia received her Certificate of Enrollment to practice before the IRS on May 20, 1997 and became a fellow of the National Tax Practice Institute in 2000. She is currently a member of the National Society of Enrolled Agents (NAEA), Washington State Society of Enrolled Agents (WSSEA), Washington State Association of Accountants (WAA), Washington State Tax Consultants (WSTC), and the National Society of Tax Professionals (NATP). She was a past board member of Washington State Enrolled Agents Society.
Virginia is thankful to her supportive husband, her children and grandchildren.
Effie's early career included being Administrative Assistant to a Colonel in the Israeli Army, followed by managing the administrative side of a Pro-Bono Legal program for three years. Effie earned her LL.B. (Bachelor of Laws) from the Netanya Academic College Law School (class of 2003), and was admitted to the Israeli Bar Association. After practicing Law in Israel for a couple of years, Effie and her husband relocated to Redmond WA.
With a fresh start in a new country, Effie began working at Wells Fargo Bank. After a short period as a Lead Teller, she was sent to Banker Training, graduating first in her class. During her four year tenure at Wells Fargo Bank, her outstanding customer service skills and sales performance earned her top ranking among the bankers in the district.
Effie joined GPL at the beginning of 2010 and assumed the position of Manager. Her responsibilities include customer and partner relations as well as developing and driving GPL's day-to-day operations. Her passion for learning, her excellent people skills, and the joy of working in a fun, happy environment makes it all a pleasure to be a part of GPL team.
Outside of work, Effie enjoys her life in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and two children.
Shahar graduated from The Interdisciplinary Center in Herzelia, Israel where he earned his BA in Business and Finance. Soon after, he joined a family owned Insurance business where he was responsible for developing the business strategy for the local market.
His entrepreneurial desire and the search for new challenges lead him and Ortal, his wife, to move to Washington State where he joined a nation-wide tax practice. The success was immediate and the local branch in Kirkland, WA became one of the leading branches of the company in the US.
In 2010 after gaining extensive tax and accounting experience, Shahar became a member of GPL team as a senior tax consultant who is also responsible for the business development strategy and the outside relationship of GPL with the local business community.
Shahar specializes in business and foreign taxation and has a deep understating of how to choose the right entity and maintain the best practice for a business. His unique approach to doing business has become his trademark.
During tax season of 2010 Shahar was part of the IRS VITA program (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) which provides free tax help for taxpayers who qualify. "This is a lifetime experience to be able to help those who cannot afford to pay for services and provide them with the best tax solutions as a client. I will definitely do it again."
Shahar has an MBA from Seattle U. He is living in Redmond, married with 2 children.
Azita relocated to the U.S with her family over 6 years ago. After completing an IT program she began working for Orrtax Company in technical support department. Her responsibilities were troubleshooting customer issues reported over the phone regarding their tax preparation. After the birth of her son, she began working at Wells Fargo Bank as a teller. In only a short period of time, she was promoted to Service Manager in a local branch in Bellevue WA. Her work ethics, personality, and enthusiasm helped her to establish great relationships with customers.
Azita joined the GPL team in January of 2011. She has brought her great customer service to GPL Tax & Accounting and is happy to be a part of a new growing community business that services local and international clients.
Her free time is spent time with her 4 years old son and her loving husband enjoying all beauty and opportunities available from living in Washington State.
Over 20 years ago Cheryl began working for a family member's accounting business and discovered that she really enjoyed it. She worked in private industry and public accounting including several years working for a national firm in Kirkland, Washington. Cheryl enjoys helping small to large business clients with their bookkeeping, payroll, QuickBooks, and at the end of the year helping them assemble the needed information for preparation of their tax returns. She has built long term relationships with clients by always providing excellent service. After working for several public accounting firms, she feels that at GPL Tax & Accounting, she has finally found a great team environment with the focus on client service and employee relations. She believes that good communication is the first step in providing the best service possible.
Cheryl is a true Washingtonian. She has lived in Kirkland from childhood and has seen the many changes and growth in development of the surrounding communities. She owns a home in Bothell with her husband Mark, her two adorable Pekinese dogs Grace and Little Bits, and her Himalayan cat Mila. She enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling, going to the gym, yoga and cultural arts.
Roni has over 20 years of experience in public accounting and she is especially talented at proposing structured solutions to complex issues. She has extensive experience working with small businesses, start-up businesses, and high net worth individuals.
Roni offers tax assistance to clients on numerous levels to ensure the efficient handling of personal and commercial tax needs. She specializes in preparation and review of federal and state income tax returns for corporations and partnerships in addition to assisting clients with fiduciary and individual returns.
Roni graduated from Central Washington University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. She is currently pursuing her Masters in Taxation from Golden Gate University.
Roni is currently a member of the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce and Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Ofer has over 16 years of extensive experience in financial management, treasury, accounting, risk management and business development, including 10 years in the USA. Ofer served in different executive roles: CFO, VP Finance, Controller, Senior Manager and Consultant (KPMG Seattle and Deloitte IL). He brings extensive experience working with public and private, small and large companies in Israel and abroad, operating in high-tech, manufacturing, utilities and energy. Including: Microsoft, RealNetworks, T-Mobile, Alcoa, Hasbro, Expeditors, Market Leader, DPL.INC, IL Electric Co and ESCO.
Since their return to Israel in 2009, after living in the USA for 10 years, Ofer and his wife and three children live in Zichron Yaakov, a beautiful costal village located between Tel-Aviv and Haifa. In Zichron they enjoy living in a place with great heritage, small community atmosphere and being closer to their families and friends.
Monica was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona and moved to Washington to attend Seattle University in 2009. She is studying Marking and Management with a minor in Entrepreneurship & Innovation and plans to graduate in June 2013. Monica was thrilled to join the GPL team in February 2012 in hopes of gaining real world marketing and social media experience.
She focuses on developing and implementing strategic marketing campaigns on social media channels while helping to create a unique voice and awareness of GPL on the web.
In her free time Monica enjoys her weekly gymnastics class and the occasional flying trapeze class as a fun and creative way to stay active. She enjoys photography, film and the virtual bulletin board website, Pinterest.
Sasha joined the GPL family in January of 2012. Her prior experience was with Wells Fargo Bank, where she worked first as a teller and then as a lead teller. After working in the corporate world for four years, she wanted to take her talents and experiences to a smaller company, where her contributions and input would be valued. Also, she is very excited to once again work with some of the people she once enjoyed working with in the banking industry.
Sasha completed her degree in design, but realized that she needed to keep her passion as a hobby. She has since decided to pursue a business degree, creating more opportunities for her. She is currently in the process of finishing up her degree at Bellevue Community College and then would like to transfer to Seattle University to complete her studies.
Sasha is originally from Belarus, a small Eastern European country. She moved to the United States when she was twelve years old. She currently resides in Bellevue with her fiancé and their dog.
